Pupusas
Thick corn tortillas stuffed with cheese, refried beans, or loroco — pressed, griddled, and served with curtido. Made to order.
For over a decade, families on Indianapolis' west side have come to la Bendicion for the same reason they come back: bread that tastes like home, made the way it's always been made — by hand, from scratch, with ingredients that don't cut corners.
La Bendicion wasn't founded as a concept. It was built from a kitchen in Guatemala, where bread is still treated as something worth doing slowly — kneading by hand, watching the oven, knowing your customers by name.
When that tradition came to Indianapolis' west side, it didn't change to fit in. The recipes stayed the same. The commitment stayed the same. What changed is the community that gathered around them — families, neighbors, people who recognized the difference the moment they took the first bite.
Every item is prepared by hand using recipes passed down through generations. We don't make everything — we make the things we've mastered.

Crisp, golden pastry filled with seasoned ground beef, chicken, or cheese. A Guatemalan street-food classic, done right.
Wrapped in banana leaves and steamed until tender — our tamales come in chicken and pork varieties, following the same method used for decades.
A Guatemalan staple: a soft split roll filled with red beans and white cheese. Simple, satisfying, and impossible to get wrong when it's done this way.
From conchas and cuernos to bolillos and telitas — our bread line runs the full range of what Guatemalan families expect at their table.
Strong, dark Guatemalan coffee brewed fresh all day. Also available: atol de elote, frescos, and other traditional beverages.
You don't need us to tell you your bakery matters. But here's what our customers keep coming back for:
We don't use premade dough, frozen fillings, or industrial shortcuts. Every batch starts from raw ingredients and is handled the way it should be.
These aren't adapted or simplified for local taste. They're the same recipes your abuela would recognize — because that's what our customers want.
We know our regulars. We keep the lights on early for the folks who need it. This isn't a chain — it's a bakery that's part of the block.
We bake in small batches throughout the day. That means what you get is as close to out-of-the-oven as anything this side of Guatemala.
Hours may vary on holidays. Call ahead to confirm.
Whether you're planning an event, need a large order, or just want to confirm what's fresh today — we're a phone call or email away.
Thank you — we'll get back to you shortly.
